Connecting a Shopify store
Installing the Shopify app lets a scan be enriched with data the storefront does not expose publicly, and it is never required. The scanner cannot know whether the app is installed, which is deliberate: a scan measures what an agent arriving from outside can see, and privileged data would make that measurement dishonest.
Installing the Shopify app connects your catalogue so a scan can be explained with more precision. It is an enhancement and it is never a requirement.
The rule behind that
The scan engine cannot know whether the app is installed. That is an architectural guarantee rather than a policy: a scan measures what an agent arriving cold from the outside can see, and a measurement that quietly used privileged data would not be measuring that.
The practical consequence is that your results are comparable with a store that has not installed anything, which is the only way a benchmark means anything.
What it adds
- Findings that can name the product or variant involved rather than describing it.
- Fewer ambiguous cases where a storefront and a feed disagree and neither is obviously authoritative.
- Less setup: the store is already identified rather than typed in.
Premium features on Shopify
Anything paid inside the embedded app is billed through Shopify, not through a card entered on our site. That is a rule rather than a convenience, and nothing in the app will send you elsewhere to pay.
Questions
Do I have to install the app to be scanned?
No. Scans run against any public storefront by URL. The app adds context to a scan you could have had anyway.
Does connecting change my results?
It does not change what the agent could do. It can change how much detail a finding carries, because some things are easier to explain with catalogue data than by inference from the storefront.
How do I disconnect?
Uninstall the app from your Shopify admin. Scans continue to work by URL exactly as they did before it was installed.
