Billing, invoices and cancelling

Where you subscribed decides which rail bills you: a subscription started inside the Shopify app is billed by Shopify, and one started on the website is billed by card. A storefront carries one active subscription at a time, which is enforced in the database rather than by the interface, and cancelling stops future scans without deleting the reports you already have.

Which rail bills you is decided by where you subscribed, and the two do not mix.

Two rails, one rule

  • Subscribed inside the Shopify app: Shopify bills you, through their own plan selection, and you manage it in your Shopify admin.
  • Subscribed on the website: billed by card, managed in your account.

A premium feature in the embedded app is never unlocked by a card subscription taken elsewhere. That is a firm rule, not an oversight, and it is why nothing in the app links out to an external checkout.

One storefront, one subscription

A storefront carries a single active subscription. It is enforced as a uniqueness constraint in the database rather than as something the interface tries to remember, so it holds even when two things happen at once.

Several storefronts are subscribed individually. That is also why higher frequency is sold as a plan rather than as an add-on: a second concurrent subscription on one store is not representable.

Cancelling

Cancelling stops future scheduled scans. Existing reports remain readable, nothing is deleted, and resubscribing later resumes rather than restarts.

A payment that failed

A failed payment is retried before anything is switched off, and you are told before access changes rather than after. If something looks wrong on an invoice, get a human rather than guessing at it.

Questions

Can I have two subscriptions on one store?

No. One storefront carries one active subscription, enforced as a database constraint rather than a rule the interface tries to remember. Additional storefronts are subscribed separately.

I subscribed in the Shopify app. Why is there no card on file?

Because Shopify is billing you, not us. Manage or cancel it from your Shopify admin; there is nothing to enter on our side and nothing in the app will send you elsewhere to pay.

What happens to my reports if I cancel?

They stay. Cancelling stops future scheduled scans. It does not delete history, and resubscribing later picks up where you left off rather than starting empty.
