llms.txt generator
llms.txt is a plain text file at the root of a site, like robots.txt, that tells an AI assistant what the site is and which pages matter. This reads your sitemap and writes you a starting point from your own pages.
What this does and does not do
It gives an assistant a description of your store that you wrote, instead of one it assembled from whichever page it happened to crawl first. That is worth having and it is not the thing that stops an agent buying from you.
What stops an agent is further along: a price it cannot read, a size picker that needs a mouse, a checkout that insists on an account. A free scan walks your store and tells you which of those it hits, and the stall library covers every one we detect.
Frequently asked questions
What is llms.txt?
A plain text file at the root of a site, like robots.txt, that tells an AI assistant what the site is and which pages matter. Nobody is obliged to read it and no search engine ranks you for having one. It exists so that an assistant summarising your store works from a description you wrote rather than from whatever it happened to crawl first.
Will this make agents buy from my store?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. It helps an assistant describe you accurately. What stops an agent buying is almost always further along: a price it cannot read, a size picker that needs a mouse, a checkout that demands an account. Our free scan tells you which of those your store hits.
How much of my store do you read?
The sitemap, and up to 7 pages from it, chosen to cover different parts of the site rather than seven of the same thing. That is a hard cap in the code rather than a setting, and it is the same allowance every free tool here gets. Our agents identify themselves on every visit.
Why not just write it for me completely?
The one line we deliberately leave blank is the description of what you sell and who for. It is the first thing an assistant reads and the only part we would be guessing at. Everything else, the page list and the summaries, comes from your own pages.
I already have one. What happens?
We show you the one you publish rather than replacing it. Overwriting a file somebody wrote on purpose is not a helpful default.
See how our agents identify themselves when they visit, and how to opt out, on our agent page.
A file is not the thing that stops an agent
A scan walks your store the way an AI shopper would and tells you which of the real stalls it hits. One free scan per store, per email address, every 30 days.
