Peec AI alternative: test whether AI agents can buy
Ottom is an alternative to Peec AI for a different question. Peec AI is AI search analytics for marketing teams: it measures how often AI answers mention your brand, where you rank in them, how favourably they describe you, and which sources they use. Ottom measures what happens when an AI agent tries to buy. It sends an agent to your store to find a product, compare it and reach the payment step, and reports where it stalled. The two are complements more than substitutes.
What Peec AI does
In its own words, from the pages listed under sources, read on 13 Oct 2026.
- Peec AI describes itself as AI search analytics for marketing teams.[1][2]
- Its documentation defines visibility as the percentage of AI responses where your brand appears, position as your average ranking when it appears, and sentiment as how positively AI platforms describe your brand on a scale of 0 to 100.[3]
- It also reports sources: the websites AI platforms use as references when answering your prompts.[3]
- It tracks several AI search engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, and lets you add competing brands to see how you rank against them.[1][2]
What Ottom does
- You give Ottom a web address. There is no script to write or maintain and nothing to install on your store.
- An agent tries to buy something the way an AI assistant shopping for a person would. It finds a product, reads what your pages say about it, compares it, and works through cart and checkout.
- It stops at the payment step on purpose. It never enters card details and never places an order.
- The report names the stage where the agent stalled, what it was looking at, and what to change, written so you can forward it to whoever looks after your site.
- Paid plans run on a schedule and alert you by email or Slack when the result changes.
The detail is on how it works.
Peec AI and Ottom side by side
| Question | Peec AI | Ottom |
|---|---|---|
| The question it answers | How often do AI answers mention us, how high, and how favourably? | Can an AI agent buy from us? |
| How it measures | By running prompts across AI search engines and analysing the answers. | By sending an agent to your store to attempt a purchase. |
| What a result looks like | Visibility, position, sentiment and sources, beside competing brands. | A pass or a stall at one of four stages, what the agent saw, and a fix. |
| Who it is for | Marketing teams. | Store owners, with fixes written to forward to a developer. |
Which one you need
When Peec AI fits
Peec AI fits when the question is how visible your brand is in AI search, how that compares with your competitors, and which sources the answers lean on.
When Ottom fits
Ottom fits when the question is whether an agent that reaches your store can actually buy, and where it stops if it cannot.
Using both
A high visibility score means AI answers name you. It does not tell you what happens when an agent follows that answer to your store, because that depends on your pages: whether the price is text, whether a size can be chosen without a mouse, whether checkout demands an account. Ottom measures that and not visibility. Together the two cover being found and being buyable.
What Ottom does not do
- Ottom does not run prompts or track mentions, citations, rankings or sentiment in AI answers.
- Ottom does not read your server logs or measure AI traffic to your site.
- Ottom does not write content or change your site. It tells you what to change.
Questions
Is Ottom a replacement for Peec AI?
No. They measure different things. Peec AI measures how AI answers mention and rank your brand. Ottom measures whether an agent can complete a purchase on your store. A store can do well on one and badly on the other.
My visibility in AI search is high. Do I still need Ottom?
Visibility brings the agent to your store. What happens next depends on your pages. If the agent cannot read the price, choose a variant or get through checkout, it stops there, and nothing on your site records that it did. Ottom shows you whether that happens and where.
Does Ottom track my brand in AI answers?
No. Ottom does not run prompts or count mentions. It sends an agent to your store and reports what happened when it tried to buy.
Does Ottom place real orders?
No. The agent goes as far as the payment step and stops there. It never enters card details and never places an order, on any plan.
